Description
Primitive Way from A Fonsagrada to Santiago
The Camino Primitivo (Primitive Way) is the oldest and most challenging pilgrimage route on the Camino de Santiago. Its origin dates back to the discovery of the tomb of the Apostle Santiago in the year 830. Following this event, King Alfonso II of Asturias, known as "el Casto - the Chaste", decided to walk from Oviedo to Compostela to venerate the remains of the Saint, becoming the first pilgrim on the Camino de Santiago.
Camino Primitivo from A Fonsagrada is a journey full of history and an intimate connection with nature. This route, which is one of the oldest and least traveled, offers pilgrims a unique opportunity to experience the Camino de Santiago in its most authentic form. However, it is also a path full of challenges: a demanding route with uneven stages and just a few services. For this reason, it is not recommended for beginners or people with poor physical condition.
The Camino Primitivo is ideal for those looking for an experience away from the crowds and the tourist atmosphere of other routes, offering a journey rich in history and nature.
