Camino de Invierno - Winter Way from Monforte de Lemos (6 stages)

The Camino de Invierno (Winter Way) is an alternative route of the Camino de Santiago, created to avoid the harsh weather conditions of the French Way in the mountains of O Cebreiro during the winter. The medieval pilgrim chose to detour southwest after Ponferrada, entering Galicia through the region of Valdeorras. This route, known as the Camino de Invierno, allowed one to escape the snowfall, cold and rain.

It is the only Camino de Santiago that crosses all four Galician provinces. It is ideal for those looking for a quieter and less crowded experience. It is especially attractive for experienced pilgrims who want a different route after having completed other routes.

This package offers the possibility of walking the last 100 km from Monforte de Lemos to Santiago de Compostela.

What is included?

• Accommodation in rural houses / Hotels:
• 4 nights on a half-board basis (breakfast and dinner) on the Camino.
• 3 nights on a bed and breakfast basis in: Monforte de Lemos, Chantada and Santiago de Compostela.
• Transfer from the end of each stage to the rural house and back (when necessary).
• Luggage transfer during the stages. 1 piece of maximum 15 kg per person.
• Travel insurance.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Monforte de Lemos at your own.

Accommodation in hotel in Monforte de Lemos.

Day 2: Stage 1 "Monforte de Lemos - Chantada (30 km)

After breakfast, start of the pilgrimage on foot to Chantada.

Accommodation in a hotel in Chantada.

Day 3: Stage 2 "Chantada - Rodeiro" (25.40 km)

Breakfast and continuation of the pilgrimage to Rodeiro.

Dinner and accommodation in a country house.

Day 4: Stage 3 "Rodeiro – Lalín" (21.90 km)

Breakfast and continuation of the pilgrimage to Lalín.

Dinner and accommodation in a country house.

Day 5: Stage 4 "Lalín - Silleda" (15.70 km)

Breakfast and continuation the pilgrimage to Silleda.

Dinner and accommodation in a country house.

Day 6: Stage 5 "Silleda - Outeiro" (23.90 km) 

Breakfast and continuation of the pilgrimage to Outeiro.

Dinner and accommodation in a rural house.

Day 7: Stage 6 "Outeiro - Santiago de Compostela" (16.70 km)

Breakfast and last stage of pilgrimage. An exciting and rewarding moment as it marks the end of your Camino.

Day 8: Santiago de Compostela.

* The distance of the stages is approximate. The end of the stage may change depending on the location of the accommodations and the transfer.

Useful information

Accommodations' double rooms are not guaranteed to have two beds.

Reservation requests must be made at least 10 days before the start of the pilgrimage.
